Color
The BrowserPod palette: flat fields, no gradients, depth from light.
The palette has three layers: a small primary set, a family of near-black night shades for surfaces, and three accents used sparingly. The cardinal rule sits above all of them: BrowserPod never uses gradients, with exactly one bounded exception, the Glass Wash. Every other field of color is flat. Depth and atmosphere come from light, shadow, blur and grain, never from color ramps.
Primary
| Name | Hex | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Brian’s Blue | #4a7dff | Hero color. Primary actions, links, focus, key highlights. |
| Pisspurple | #cfdeff | Pale companion to Portal Blue. Light surfaces, tints, calm backdrops. |
| Vivid void | #0d0d0d | Primary dark. Logo black, text on light, the void behind the grid. |
| Flourescent cream | #e5e5d6 | The logo’s color, and warm light where Daydream and Mist run too cool. |
Night shades
The near-blacks are the dreamcore night: the space behind and beyond the architecture, and the stacked surfaces of the UI. They are deliberately close in value; layers should step subtly, like rooms getting deeper.
| Name | Hex | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Night 01 | #03060c | Deepest backdrop. |
| Night 02 | #010710 | Base app background. |
| Night 03 | #020914 | Raised surfaces, panels. |
| Night 04 | #1c1e22 | Highest surfaces, borders, hover states. |
| Mist | #d2d6db | Neutral grey. Secondary text on dark, gridlines, quiet UI chrome. |
Accents
| Name | Hex |
|---|---|
| Dream Magenta | #c73da6 |
| Signal Yellow | #ffd633 |
| Coral | #ff6161 |
Accents are seasoning: one per composition is usually enough, and they never carry large areas. They are for the moment the dream flickers, not for wallpaper.
Pairs in practice
The approved combinations, doing real work. The highlight word carries Portal Blue on dark backgrounds.
Things not to do
- Use colours outside of the brand We’ve got enough colour. We don’t need more.
- Green Never. Not even on Christmas day.
- Gradients Outside of the permitted gradients shown, no gradients. Not in backgrounds, buttons, illustrations, type or the logo. Not even in your personal life. (The one permitted gradient is the Glass Wash, specified in UI.)
- Texture comes from film grain and light, not color blends; see the render style in Visual World.
- Contrast pairs that work: White or Mist on any Night shade; Void on Daydream or Mist; Void on Portal Blue for large type; white on Portal Blue for UI text. Check accessibility contrast for anything below 18px.
